From Amy:

Happy Spring! The green shoots of early spring flowers are peaking out of the ground, as the longer days indicate we’ve made it through winter and can look ahead to warmer weather. Perhaps on Nantucket, more than in other places, spring is a time of renewal and rebirth, not only in nature, but also in commerce, as businesses begin to reopen and look ahead to the busy summer season.

Other signs of spring this week included Irish dancers sharing their steps with Morning Meeting attendees on St. Patrick’s Day. Thanks to Olivia, Charlotte, Luke, and Libby for demonstrating tricky Irish dancing steps!  7th graders talked about Rosa Parks,"A. J." Mleczko Griswold, Malala Yousafzai, and other women as a tribute to Women’s History Month.  And we wrapped up this morning with our Rubik’s Cube challenge, our top contender solved in under 40 seconds! Next Friday, we’ll see who wins – Morning meetings continue to inspire and impress!

Please note one crucial calendar change. We will hold a professional development workshop for all employees on Wednesday, April 9th, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. This means we will have a shorter school day on April 9th, with school closing for all students at 12:30 pm.  We will hold our conference day on Wednesday, April 16th.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Warmly,
