This week, Morning Meeting was coordinated by the Second Graders. We started the week playing Buzz Word, a game that requires careful listening and making connections to other words. Second graders led us through the guessing game with ease. On Tuesday, the Spelling Bee continued in the Upper School. We’re now down to two teams, words are getting more complicated, and the competition is intense! It’s impressive to see the students, at various age levels, playfully engaging with words, vocabulary, and spelling. At the New School, academic learning is interwoven with playful engagement and creative thinking!
This is Super Bowl weekend - and please note that we will have another “Mellow Morning” on Monday, February 10th. This means that school will open at the regular time, but we won’t start academic classes until after Morning Meeting. If your family stays up late to enjoy the Super Bowl game (or you’re just watching the commercials and half-time show), please note that we’ll ease into the week of school with a Mellow Monday Morning.
Next week, Morning Meeting will be run by the First Graders. Please join us, if you can, for a glimpse into the work that’s been keeping our first graders busy!
Have a wonderful Super Bowl weekend!
