News & Updates 12/13/24

From Amy:

It’s late on Friday afternoon, far later than I usually sit down to write. It’s a sign of a very busy and productive week at New School. It’s also a sign of the days leading up to the holidays, filled to the brim with important preparations and activities.

I am still on a “sugar high” after our morning meeting today. If your child is reporting that we saw a short video that included someone eating what looked like a croc shoe or a water bottle, they are correct! My nephew’s partner is JonnyCakes, a realistic visual artist who crafts his cakes into amazing creations. The students were delighted by Jonny’s visit via Zoom - many recognized him from his participation in the Netflix series “Is It Cake”.  Jonny was delightfully engaging with the students, reminding them that he’s never won a cake contest, but it’s the trying that matters. If you’re interested in Jonny’s realistic cakes, check out this video of Jonny’s busy day!

Next week, we have one more busy week before our holiday break. Join us at Morning Meeting on Wednesday to hear John Shea recite The Night Before Christmas, as well as Friday for our community sing!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Thank you! Once again, Fairwinds Counseling Center is overjoyed by the Nantucket New School community. We collectively provided three families with gifts, Christmas trees graciously donated from Moors End Farm, tree stands, lights, and ornaments. So, thank you for making the holiday season a brighter one!
