The season has begun and holiday cheer is literally bouncing off the walls at school, both in terms of holiday decorations as well as the music from Jake’s classes. As we have done in the past, we want to share our joy and our good fortune with those on our island who have so much less than we do. In what has become a wonderful tradition at NNS we will provide Christmas for island families in need. When we pitch in together we can accomplish so much. We have posted the specifics of each family in terms of ages and sizes of family members on the bulletin boards. For reasons of privacy we will not post names, but have labeled things like “boy age 6 size 5.” Gifts should be wrapped and designated with “family 1, boy 6, trousers size 5,” or “baby doll for girl age 7.” This way we will know how to package the gifts. Thanks to those of you who have already signed-up.
With the calendar flipping to December and Stroll happening in town, we thought today would be a great day for our own “Stroll”. Our Stroll is the second part of our effort to provide for those who are less fortunate and the money each student raised by doing extra chores at home will be used to purchase gift cards at Stop & Shop. The rain held off just long enough for us to stay dry.
After our stroll, Anne led a discussion about the reasons we collected money and where it will go.
The Festival of Trees opened at the Whaling Museum this week and I couldn’t be more pleased with the ornaments our students made for our tree. The faculty at the AAN did a great job from start to finish!
Not to be out done by all the festivities that are going on in school, the Lindner family has certainly their part of spreading holiday cheer. Check out the jeep!
Last year at about this time this ficus tree appeared in the foyer. Unfortunately, we do not have space for it and I wonder if anyone would like to adopt it before it has to go. Let me know if you would like it.
Mark your calendar – the third grade will be hosting the December party book gathering on Friday, December 15th from 4pm-6pm. The class will provide students with everything they need to decorate cookies while parents enjoy wine and cheese!
And with the tax year coming to a close, now is the time to give to the Annual Fund. Click HERE to give.
