ART – The position involves teaching all aspects of studio art in Pre-K through Grade 8, with emphasis on hand creation and observational drawing. Successful candidates will have strong experience as an art teacher in elementary education, a Masters in a related field is preferred; knowledge of art history; excellent classroom management skills; a desire and ability to collaborate and work with a team; experience in curriculum planning and development; excellent oral and written communication; a commitment to character development; good judgment, patience, and flexibility; and a commitment to the mission of Nantucket New School. Learning Specialist – The Learning Specialist will be a dedicated and dynamic educator with experience working with elementary and middle school aged students. Successful candidates will have previous classroom and/or small group experience in early literacy skills, literacy intervention strategies, an undergraduate degree in education and/or a special education certification is preferred. Candidates must have superior teaching skills, excellent writing skills, be collaborative, detail-oriented, innovative and dedicated to meeting the academic and personal needs of children. The learning specialist works with individual students and small groups of students in and out of the classroom in conjunction with classroom teachers and has the responsibility of partnering proactively with faculty and administrators to support students with different learning styles. STEM – The Upper School (grades 5-8) STEM teacher will be an experienced and creative teacher capable of teaching various levels of Upper School STEM and collaborating with the Upper School team to implement interdisciplinary connections in the classroom.
