Vulnerability of the Adolescent Brain
You are invited to attend a presentation on youth substance abuse prevention and addiction by Kevin Rosario on Tuesday, April 23rd @ 6:00 P.M. at the Nantucket New School. Please RSVP here.
We are honored to host Kevin again this spring. His approach to educating and informing young people on this subject is remarkable and inspiring. He will present to our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders during the school day on 4/23.

Mr. Rosario is a Nationally Certified Recovery Coach, Family Coach and Intervention Professional and has worked in the field since 2012. Kevin has given addiction prevention and education seminars to over 8,000 students, teachers and parents over the last eight years and has a delivery that is easy to understand and well received. Data shows that many people with substance use disorder start to experiment between the ages of 12 and 15 so it is critically important to speak to adolescents and raise awareness about the dangers of early substance use.

The presentation will cover:
·  Vulnerability of the adolescent brain
·  Addiction risk factors
·  Risk of Vaping, Marijuana, Alcohol
·  Prevalence of Heroin and Cocaine
·  Refusal Skills
·  How to talk to your kids about drugs

Raising money for financial aid and programming has never been so quackin’ important!

Here's how it works: Students, families, and friends adopt rubber ducky racers. We race them and you join us at The Creeks to root for your ducks. The three most nimble ducks win awesome prizes! The students who sell the most duckies win awesome prizes too! The school wins your crucial support! EVERYONE WINS!

We are certain we can top last year’s success by counting on all of you to sell ducks and help promote rubber ducky adoptions with friends and family off-island. Our goal is to get 100% participation from our students.

Join us at The Creeks on May 18th at 11 a.m. to see if your rubber ducky makes it across the finish line first! Thank you in advance for your support! If you have any questions, please contact Kate Olson at: kolson@nantucketnewschool.org or 508-228-8569 ext. 302.
